CLEVELANDURBANNEWS.COM-WASHINGTON, D.C.-President Donald Trump, on Wednesday, and under the guidance of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Neilson, signed an executive order that temporarily ends the most recent process of separating immigrant children from their parents at the U.S. border in what critics say is a quick fix that is in no way indicative of necessary immigration reform.

The president, no doubt, has bowed to pressure, including criticism from both congressional Republicans and Democrats, including Sen Rob Portman of Ohio, a Republican, and each and every member of Ohio's Democratic congressional delegation, led by Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, a Toledo Democrat whose ninth congressional district extends to Cleveland and the longest serving woman in the U.S. House of Representatives.

This evening, Kaptur said in a press release to ClevelandUrbanNews.Com and the  KathyWrayColemanOnlineNewsBlog.Com, Ohio's most read digital Black newspapers, that President Trump must "stop the barbaric tactics and stop breaking up working families and come to the table for a productive solution that regularizes labor flow across North America and renegotiates bad trade deals that punish workers both here and abroad."

Ohio is a pivotal state for presidential elections.

Trump said Wednesday after signing the order that he too is uncomfortable,
now that the pressure is mounting.

"I didn't like the sight or the feeling of families being separated," said Trump. "It is a problem that has been going on for many years."

The president said that "at the same time we are keeping a very powerful border and there continues to be zero tolerance."

Trump's posture is a turn around from the president's stance that federal law gave him and Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials no other choice but to separate immigrant families at the border and to permit  ICE to treat them like they are dogs..

It follows vivid images of children housed in cages at detainment facilities and crying for their parents and it comes as protests across the country, including last week on Public Square in downtown Cleveland led by the group familiesbelong.orghave escalated.

Monday morning Kaptur (OH-09), dean of the Ohio delegation, paid a visit to the sheriff's office in Battle Creek, Michigan where several migrant workers are being detained from the Corso's raid by federal customs authorities two weeks ago near Sandusky, Ohio in Erie County.
That raid, orchestrated with guns, rifles, helicopters and law enforcement dogs, resulted in some 114 arrests of suspected illegal immigrants who were employed at Corso's Flower and Garden Center, and it, and other raids across the country, have caused a national uproar over the politically volatile issue.
The congresswoman's visit Monday included conversations with some 30 women being kept at that particular facility as well as a briefing from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials, Calhoun County Sheriff Matt Saxton, and members of Homeland Security.
She said afterward that her major goal is to ensure that the women have access to legal representation, many of whom left behind children.
