Taylor, who is resigning from the post she has held since 2007,  effective  Jan 1,  to return to her hometown of Detroit to work in the private sector, a spokesperson for the mayor told  reporters .  The mayor is at the end of a second four-year-term and has said that he will seek reelection next year. He has not publicly named a replacement for Taylor, who is Black, though he has no Blacks in the appointed positions of law director, safety director, chief of police, chief prosecutor, EMS commissioner, chief of staff and CEO of the majority Black and impoverished Cleveland Municipal School District.  Jackson, 66, is the third Black

Suspected shooter Adam Lanza, who is accused of shooting his mother in the face multiple times and killing her and then starring in a massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn on Friday, Dec. 14 that left 20 first graders at the  school and six adults dead, including the school principal, teachers, a psychiatrist, and a school guidance counselor.
