November 6, 2018 general election results: State Issue 1 fails, Democrat Richard Corday loses for Ohio governor as does the entire statewide Democratic ticket, aside from the two judicial candidates.... The Dems takeover the U.S. House, and Stacey Abrams and Andrew Gillum, who are Black, lose for governor of Florida and Georgia, respectively...U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown of Cleveland wins as do Congresswomen Marcia Fudge, Joyce Beatty and Marcy Kaptur, Fudge and Beatty of whom are both Black.....The two open seats on the Ohio Supreme Court were won by Judges Melody Stewart, who is Black, and Michael Donnelly, the only two Democrats to win on the statewide ticket....Democrat Armond Budish is reelected Cuyahoga County executive and Cheryl Stephens, who is Black and a Democrat, wins a County Council seat....Juanita Brent and Terrence Upchurch, both of Cleveland, are newcomers to the Ohio House and are both Black, Bride Rose Sweeney also winning a state representative seat....State Rep Nickie Antonio is elected Democratic state senator....Deborah Turner, who is Black, wins a seat on the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas bench....Turner joins Judges Shirley Strickland Saffold and Cassandra Collier Williams, both of them reelected unopposed, to become the third Black currently sitting judge on the 34- member Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas bench....Cuyahoga County includes Cleveland....Republican Common Pleas Judge Kathleen Sutula hangs on to win reelection while Democrat William McGinty beats Republican Lorraine Coyne for an open seat on the common pleas bench....
