CLEVELANDURBANNEWS.COM-CLEVELAND, OHIO- The ex-boyfriend charged with killing 31-year-old Miriam Johnson of Cleveland Heights, the mother of three of his children whose dead body he allegedly had stuffed in a garbage can on Cleveland's largely Black east side, was arrested Friday night by U.S. Marshals.

Yaphet Bradley, 35, is being held without bond on various charges in Johnson's death, including abuse of a corpse and aggravated murder.

He is scheduled to be arraigned this week.

"The Cleveland Heights Police Department would like to thank all of our law enforcement partners for their assistance in locating and apprehending Yaphet Bradley," said Cleveland Heights Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg in a press release.

A mother of four, Johnson's body was discovered last Thursday at the 7300 block of Chamberlain Avenue in Cleveland. 


Community activists, led by Women's March Cleveland, rallied with activists, Black elected officials and the murder victims families Wednesday evening relative to unsolved murders of women and girls in Cleveland and demanded then that police do more to find their killers as well as Johnon's assailant, among others.

"We are pleased that Mr Bradley has been captured and is in jail without bail for allegedly committing this heinous crime against an innocent woman with four children and we will follow this case until justice prevails," said activist Kathy Wray Coleman of Women's March Cleveland and Imperialwomencoalition, who led Wednesday's  rally, a gathering that also remembered Cleveland murder victims Jazmine Trotter, 20, Ashley Leszyeski, 21, Christine Malone, 45, Jameela Hasan, 37 and Alianna DeFreeze, 14. All of the aforementioned are unsolved murders other than Alianna, whose killer, Christopher Whitaker, was sentenced to death last week by Common Pleas Judge Carolyn Friedland,  and all of them were found dead in an area along a two mile strip beginning at East 93rd Street on Cleveland's east side 

Yaphet had serve time in prison for abusing Johnson and was wanted on a probation warrant in a drug case when he was arrested on Friday.

Calvin Young, 21, is charged in Johnson's case with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and obstruction of justice.
