CLEVELANDURBANNEWS.COM-CLEVELAND, Ohio- The trial for Frank Q. Jackson, the 23-year-old grandson of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson who was indicted last year on felony charges of felonious assault, abduction and two counts of failure to comply with police relative to a June 10 incident began Tuesday with jury selection.
The mayor has said publicly that he supports his grandson and other family members just like other people do.
Whether Frank Q. Jackson could have gotten a fair trial remains to be seen, the common pleas general division bench of Cuyahoga County plagued with corruption and a cadre of racist and unfair largely White judges.
The public will never know.
On Wednesday he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and the three other charges were dropped, and got probation.
He stood accused of strangling and beating an 18-year old Black woman with a metal truck hitch.
And while the younger Jackson carries the mayor's last name, he is the biological grandson of the mayor's longtime wife, Edwina Jackson, and the mayor's step grandson.

His case was assigned at random to the docket of Common Pleas Judge John P. O'Donnell , O'Donnell an unofficial Democratic candidate for the Ohio Supreme Court in 2020 and the judge who, in 2015, acquitted since fired Cleveland cop Michael Brelo of two counts of manslaughter for gunning down unarmed Blacks Malissa Williams and Timothy Russell with 49 bullets in 2012.
