NBA megastar LeBron James
CLEVELANDURBANNEWS.COM-CLEVELAND, Ohio- NBA megastar LeBron James has left  the Cleveland Cavaliers for a second time, James opting to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers via a  four-year $153.3 million contract deal.

"Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible four seasons," James said after signing the mega millions contract on Sunday. "This will always be home."

The deal comes after the Cavaliers last month lost the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors

It was  the fourth straight time the Cavs had gone to NBA Finals, the first time in 2015, though they have won only one championship title, that title won in 2016 against the Golden State, the first championship title in franchise history.

James is "the Cavaliers' all-time scoring leader, the NBA All-Star Game career scoring leader,  the NBA career playoff scoring leader, a three-time Finals  MBP, an Olympic gold medalist and a 14-times All Star, among other accoplishments in his 15-year NBA career.

Neither team owner Dan Gilbert nor general manager Koby Altma have commented to date on James' decision to join the Lakers.
.
Under the leadership of head coach Tyronn Lue, who is Black, the Cavaliers are now in a dither without James, who initially signed with the Cavs in 2003 as a first round draft pick.

An Akron, Ohio native and St. Vincent-St Mary High School graduate, James left Cleveland in 2010 after signing  a contract with the Miami Heat as a free gent where he helped catapult that team to two NBA Finals, in 2012 and 2013.

His departure from Cleveland in 2010 was met with ire from Cleveland fans, some of whom held bonfires to burn his jersey.

After four seasons in Miami James ("The King") re-signed with the Cavs in 2016 and promised to bring Cleveland its first NBA championship title, which he did.

"We've got a crazy group but they are resilient, they are tough minded, they know what it takes, and the new guys here, they really understand what it takes to win now," Lue said after the Cavs won the Eastern Conference title this year and headed to the Finals only to lose to the Warriors.

Lue has called James, 33, the best player in the world and said that James "led by example."

He too has not commented publicly on James' recent departure from the Cavs.
