The Cleveland Cavaliers were on fire Monday night as they won Game 4 of the First Round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs over the Miami Heat to advance to the semi-finals, a four-game sweep by the Cavs.

CLEVELAND, Ohio— After winning Games 1, 2 and 3, the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Miami Heat 138-83 Monday night at the Kaseya Center arena in Miami, Florida to win Game 4 of Round 1 of the 2025 Eastern Conference Playoffs, a best-of-seven-games series leading up to their quest to win the Conference Finals and, ultimately, the NBA Finals.  

After sweeping the Heat by winning four straight games and handing the Heat their worst-ever playoff loss, the Cavs will now proceed to the Round 2 semi-finals and will face the winner between the Indiana Pacers and the Milwaukee Bucks, with the Pacers leading that series 3-1 and the Game 5 match-up set for Tues., April 29.

Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell led the Cavs in scoring with 22 points Monday night, followed by Evan Mobley with 17, Jarrett  Allen with 14, and Sam Merrill with nine points as the Cavs continued the teamwork that has brought them unprecedented success during the 2024-2025 season.

Led by head coach Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers have their eyes on the NBA Championship trophy, and so do Cleveland fans, Cleveland a largely Black major American city and the second largest city in Ohio, behind Columbus, the state capital.

Atkinson was crowned the NBA coach of the year by the NBA Coaches Association just 10 days ago, a worthy title, given his skill in guiding his team to become the No. 1 Seed in the Eastern Conference during his first year as head coach. 

Monday's game was a beatdown by the Cavs, who were on fire all night long and were simply splendid. They led Miami by more than 40 points in the first quarter alone, and at halftime, the lead was 39 points, the third-largest lead after two quarters in NBA playoff history. The Cavs rained threes throughout the Round 1 series, with fans looking forward to even more excitement in Round 2.

Mitchell told reporters after the game that "the key now is to keep our necks on" our next opponent, possibly the Pacers, who seek to outdo the Bucks to advance to the Conference Semi-Finals.

Cleveland has not won an NBA championship since 2016, when megastar LeBron James, who now plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, was a team member.
