CLEVELANDURBANNEWS.COM-CLEVELAND, Ohio - Services for four-time U.S. Olympic gold medalist Harrison Dillard of Cleveland are Sat. Nov. 30, 2019 at St. Paul AME Zion Church, 2393 E.55th Street in Cleveland, with a wake at 9:00 am and the funeral at 9:30 am.
Dillard, 96,  died Nov. 22 at the Cleveland Clinic following a battle with stomach cancer.

At the time of his death he was the world's oldest Olympic gold medalist.
A graduate of East Tech High School and Baldwin Wallace College and a former Cleveland schools central office-assistant business manager,  Harrison won two gold medals in the 1948 London Olympics in the 100-meter dash and 4x100 relay and gold in the 110 meter hurdles and in the 4x100 relay in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.

The former track and field athlete is the only male and Black male to win Olympic gold medals in both sprints and high hurdles, and was dubbed the best hurdler in the world in the 40s.

Dillard retired as a central office administrator from what is now the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and was formerly the Cleveland Public School District.
He is survived by his daughter, Terri, and three grandchildren.
His wife Joy preceded him in death, dying in 2009.
