MLK assassination anniversary march by the Greater Cleveland NAN is April 4, 2019 at 4 pm at Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church in Cleveland, which follows a noon luncheon with keynote speakers Dr. Thelma T. Daley, who is the national director of Women in the NAACP (WIN) and the first woman to chair the National Advisory Council on Career Education, and the Rev. Dr Willie Gable Jr., senior pastor at Progressive Baptist Church in New Orleans....A free community program will follow the march, that program to be followed by the annual Greater Cleveland NAN Dinner and Recognition Program that will recognize Black on Black Crime Inc. activist Ernie Harris, Ohio Supreme Court Justice Melody Stewart, who is the first Black and first female elected to that court, Valerie McCall, Bishop and Dr. Sabrina Ellis, Cleveland 19 Action News Reporter and Anchorman Harry Boomer, Dr. Jacklyn Chisholm, and 13 other people.....The National Action Network (NAN) is led nationally by Civil Rights icon the Rev. The late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther Jr., a Civil Rights icon and the founder of the Southern Christan Leadership Conference, was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee 51 years ago on April 4, 1968.

The New York-based National Action Network (NAN) is led by its founder and president, the Rev. Al Sharpton, also a Civil Rights Icon, radio and television commentator, and a former presidential candidate.

The Rev Dr. E. Theophilus Caviness, senior pastor at Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church, one of Cleveland's most prominent Black churches, and who marched with Dr. King, is the chair of the Cleveland Chapter Southern Christian Leadership Conference and president of the greater Cleveland board of NAN. And Marcia McCoy, also a community activist, is president of the greater Cleveland Chapter of NAN

Sharpton will not be in attendance, organizers said. 

The noon luncheon is $25 per person, which will be followed by a 4pm march, and , after that, an open-to the public and free program after the march.

A 6 pm dinner at $26 per person, where a host of community leaders will be recognized , will follow the free community program.

Keynote speakers for the luncheon program are Dr. Thelma T. Daley, national director of Women in the NAACP (WIN), and the first woman to chair the National Advisory Council on Career Education, and the Rev. Dr Willie Gable Jr., senior pastor at Progressive Baptist Church in New Orleans

Community leaders to be recognized at the 6pm dinner as NAN'S 2019 Humanitarian and Warrior for Justice Honorees include Ohio Supreme Court Justice Melody Stewart, the first Black and first Black female elected justice of that court, Cleveland 19 Action News Reporter and Anchorman Harry Boomer, Lucretia Bolden, Dr. Jacklyn Chisholm, Evette Clark, Danielle Edwards, Victoria Trasher, Black on Black Crime activist Ernie Harris, reporter Rhonda Crowder, Dr. Alex Johnson,  Chief of Communications, Government & International Affairs for the City of Cleveland Valerie J. McCall, Cleveland Police Commander Sammy Morris, Tony Sias, Bishop and Dr. Sabrina Ellis, Kim Whitley, Renee Green, Alden Jones, and Fashion by Fowlers
