CLEVELANDURBANNEWS.COM -Cleveland, Ohio-Community activists will rally against police excessive force and brutality at 3pm Monday, Oct 22, 2018 at the FREE STAMP at Cleveland City Hall and then march down the street for a rally on the steps of the Cuyahoga County Justice Center in downtown Cleveland, a protest organized by Black Lives Matter Cleveland, Refusefacism.org, Black on Black Crime Inc., Black Man's Army, Ohio Families United Against Police Brutality, P.O.S.T., and Ohio Revolution.
The rally, said organizers, is in conjuction with rallies elsewhere as part of National End Police Brutality Day.
"We will be rallying in full force against police brutality and excessive force," said Cleveland activist Alfred Porter Jr, president of Black on Black Crime Inc.
The city of Cleveland is currently under a federal court monitored consent decree for police reforms with the U.S. Department of Justice that followed the 2012 police killing of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was Black and was gunned down by an anxious White Cleveland rookie cop in less than two seconds at a park and recreation center on the city's largely White west side.
Others killed by Cleveland police in recent years include Tanisha Anderson, Malissa Williams, Timothy Russell, Daniel Ficker, rapper Kenneth Smith, Thomas Yatsko, Angelo Miller, Craig Bickerstaff, and Brandon Jones.
Aside from Ficker, who was White, all of the aforementioned were Black.
Activists will also rally as to the killing of Luke Stewart, 23, in March of 2017 by police in Euclid, a Cleveland suburb, and all others victimized by erroneous police killings, organizers said.
