CLEVELANDURBANNEWS.COM-CLEVELAND, Ohio-Robyn Minter Smyers, an attorney and partner with the Thompson Hine law firm in Cleveland, was named Tuesday as the 2018 Black Professional of the Year of the Black Professionals Association Charitable Foundation.
The organization of Black professionals made the announcement at its meeting at Karamu Theatre House in Cleveland.

Smyers is a partner in the firm's real estate, construction and corporate transactions and securities practice groups.
Led by Ronald V. Johnson of Key Bank, a prior honoree himself, BPA's mission is to provide a forum for networking among professionals, to enhance opportunities for young scholars in the greater Cleveland area, and to highlight accomplished Black professionals from across the spectrum.
Its annual scholarship event, set this year for Nov. 6 at Lander Haven, is a black tie gala designed to recognize its named Black professional of the year and to further higher education and Black advancement and empowerment.
A daughter of former Cleveland Foundation president and CEO Steven Mintor and his late wife Dolly, who died last year, Smyers, 48, is a 1991 cum laude graduate of Harvard University and a Yale Law School graduate.
