The groups set to rally on Monday are calling for the RTA board to rescind the measure to cut services and hike fares for riders, and for the board, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish to intervene and raise revenue to stop the cuts.
As to the RTA system at issue, a core part of Cleveland's infrastructure, activists and transit unions want policy makers and officials to "fix it, fund it and make it fair."
The theme of the event is "The Bus Stops Here."
Greater Cleveland RTA provides transportation services to over 150,000 people daily, many of whom are Black, and many of whom are poor.
According to a recent Pew Research Center survey, one-in-ten Americans (11%) say they take public transportation on a daily or weekly basis.
