National Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign Rally In Cleveland Around The Murders Of 11 Black Women On Cleveland's Imperial Avenue

The Northeast Ohio Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign, which is under the leadership of Larry Bresler, will host its national venue where members and activists of the regional and national group will rally with local grassroots organizations and others in Cleveland, Oh. from June 5 to June 8 beginning with a rally and march on June 5 at 1 pm in front of the Anthony Sowell house on Imperial Ave. in Cleveland where the remains of 11 Black women were found late last year.
The National Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign was founded to unify poor people across racial lines and to address issues impacting the poor in areas such as homelessness, education, housing, justice system issues, safety and healthcare. This year's agenda includes a "March for the Dream" as the group has traveled to over 18 cities in the United States to promote the dream for equality and equal opportunity for all people pushed by the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. beginning in New Orleans. After leaving Cleveland members will gather with other national groups in Detroit for a U.S. Social Forum that is expected to draw more that 20 thousand activists and others from across the nation.
Sowell is in custody and awaiting trial on numerous counts of aggravated murder, rape and kidnapping. The celebrated case has generated national attention and the June 5 rally will address the issue of safety as to poor people, including the 11 murdered Black women.

-Carol Fisher- victim of alleged police brutality and representative of Revolutionary Books
Other activities sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign as to the four-day activities include the following:
-Testimony on issues impacting poor people in the categories of healthcare, education, foreclosures, justice system issues, domestic violence, and homelessness before a Truth Commission at 1 pm on June 6 at Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland
-Rallies on June 7 in downtown Cleveland at venues impacting poor people, including the Cuyahoga County Justice Center, the county welfare office and the Cleveland Board of Education where at 1:30 pm activists will rally outside of the Cleveland Board of Education Bld., 1380 E. 6th St. That rally is in support of Cleveland Schools Children and others, including a demand for the Ohio State Legislature to revise its system of funding public education as to properly taxes that create an inequitable and unconstitutional funding system to the detriment of Ohio's poor children, a disproportionate number of whom are Black
-Rallies on June 8 on Cleveland's West Side of town, including near the location where a 28-year-old woman's naked body was found on Cleveland' I-90 highway earlier this year and branded a "deer" by Cleveland police
Participants as to the aforementioned have joined in unison to bring attention to the need for compliance with and the implementation of local, state and national legislation around issues impacting poor people in the greater Cleveland area and elsewhere. A major focus of the activities is to promote a universal agenda designed to ensure equal opportunity and equal justice for all. This would include issues for the betterment of communities nationwide, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, age or sexual orientation.
