U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-11), who represents parts of the City of Cleveland and its eastern suburbs, sent a press release in support of those impacted by the explosion yesterday of a house near the intersection of East 177th St. and Federal Drive in Cleveland's predominantly Black Ward 1 neighborhood.
Ward 1 is Cleveland's strongest Black neighborhood with its segment of staunch middle class residents and a thick senior citizens venue that sleeps on nothing and will hold area politicians accountable. Though no people died including those living in the house that exploded, four nearby homes were destroyed, a dog died, and 11 people suffered what has been reported as minor injuries.
No ruling on the explosion has been made and it is under investigation for possible arson. If anyone has information on this issue they should contact the Cleveland police and fire departments. Congresswoman Fudge's local office number is 216-522-4900 and Ward 1 Councilman Terrell Pruit, who was at the scene following the explosion, can be reached at 216-664-4944. See press release below of Fudge.

Rep. Fudge Offers Condolences to Families Affected by the Federal Dr. House Explosion
With the force of a powerful bomb or tornado, the explosion of a home on Federal Drive Wednesday ripped into the lives and well being of dozens of Cleveland families. Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) offers her sincerest condolences to the residents who have lost their homes and to the affected neighborhood.
According to the Cleveland Fire Department, 38 homes sustained damage, 10 have been deemed uninhabitable until structural repairs are made, and three homes were destroyed, including the vacant structure where the explosion occurred.
“I am extremely grateful there was no loss of life or serious injuries. But the loss of homes, cars and pets is heartbreaking. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers,” Congresswoman Fudge stated.
“Until the Cleveland Fire Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and Dominion East Ohio Gas complete their investigation, we won’t know what caused this devastation. I am encouraged by their efforts to be as thorough as possible and maintain the safety of residents while the investigation continues.”
