The Cleveland Cavaliers were on fire Monday night as they won Game 4 of the First Round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs over the Miami Heat to advance to the semi-finals, a four-game sweep by the Cavs.  Clevelandurbannews.com and   Kathywraycolemanonlinenewsblog.com By Kathy Wray Coleman, editor, associate publisher CLEVELAND, Ohio — After winning Games 1, 2 and 3, the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Miami Heat 138-83 Monday night at the Kaseya Center arena in Miami, Florida to win Game 4 of Round 1 of the 2025 Eastern Conference Playoffs, a best-of-seven-games series leading up to their quest to win the Conference Finals and, ultimately,  the NBA Finals.   After sweeping the Heat by winning four straight games and handing the Heat their worst-ever playoff loss, the Cavs will now proceed to the Round 2 semi-finals and will face the winner between the Indiana Pacers and the Milwaukee Bucks, with the Pacers leading that series 3-1 and the Game 5 match-up set ...

Emilia Sykes (OH-13) , an Akron Democrat, voted against the Congressional Review Act (CRA) joint resolution (S.J. Res. 18) that would roll back critical consumer protections from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and allow bank overdraft fees to be raised from the $5 cap established during the Biden administration.   The resolution passed the House 217-211 and along party lines. It now proceeds to the desk of President Donald Trump for his signature. If it becomes law banks could charge some $85 for overdraft fees per transaction, which occurred before both Obama and Biden took office and intervened with price caps. Former Cleveland councilman Basheer Jones Clevelandurbannews.com and Kathywraycolemanonlinenewsblog.com   By Kathy Wray Coleman, associate publisher, editor CLEVELAND, Ohio — After pleading guilty late last year to wire fraud and honest services fraud, former Cleveland Ward 7 Councilman Basheer Jones on Tuesday was sentenced to 28 months in federal prison by U.S. District Court Judge J. Phillip Calabreze, a Republican appointed to the federal bench in the Northern District of Ohio in 2020 by President Donald Trump during his first term in office. The judge also ordered the former councilman to pay more than $148,000 in restitution and to serve three years probation after completing his sentence. Jones' attorney, Fernando Mack, and some greater Cleveland Black leaders like former congresswoman and prior HUD secretary Marcia L.
