Below is the article from Mary Kilpatrick of Cleveland.com on the upcoming International Women's Day march and rally in Cleveland, Friday, March 8, 2019, 4:45 pm, Free Stamp at Willard Park next to Cleveland City Hall. We have some 423 people interested to date on Facebook and expect more as we have six weeks until the event. We usually get about 500 people but this year our goal is at least 1,000. We need young people to step up and lead. Those interested in organizing for this march should call (216) 659-0473. I will not mc this march as I did for Women's March Cleveland Jan 19, though I am a key organizer. It was crucial that we stepped up for the women's march in Cleveland and it was successful in the midst of an impending snowstorm and controversy at the national level promoted by the mainstream media. Thanks to all who participated. We did not crash and burn in Cleveland, we stood up. The emphasis for International Women's Day March Cleveland on March 8, a sister march, is science and scientific research and public and higher education, but we will also address reproductive rights, immigration, the impending second shutdown, jobs, the legal system, and civil, human and voting rights rights We are pleased that the Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com have a reporter that focuses solely on women's issues. This is an improvement in substantive news there. We urge other mainstream news venues in Cleveland to follow suit

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Women will gather downtown in March to mark International Women’s Day, to honor women’s contributions to culture, politics and economics, and push for gender equality.
Women first celebrated International Women’s Day in 1911 in Europe, rallying for women’s rights to vote, run for office and work. By 2000, the day went unnoticed in many countries. But on it’s centennial, in 2011 former President Barack Obama called on Americans to observe International Women’s Day and honor women’s accomplishments.
The Cleveland March will emphasize supporting women and girls in science and education.
The rally is set for March 8 at the Free Stamp in Willard Park at 4:45 p.m. p.m. , according to its Facebook page.
