In legal terms, the case was dismissed where not giving McKoy the opportunity to face his alleged accuser violated the confrontation cause under the Sixth Amendment of the United States Constitution. "It never should have been a case and it was a waste of taxpayers money," said Rufus Sims, one of McKoy's attorneys in the case. "It ruined his reputation in the community and his business." On behalf of the predominantly Black City of Cleveland Triozzi, on Tuesday, brought the same misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest that Mason dropped last week, and because Mason also dropped the felony assault charge, Triozzi added an obstruction of official business charge.
