Reed said that the event, which will be held from 1 pm to 10 pm, is in its 11th year and that in previous years the Temptations, George Clinton and Cameo were among the performers.
A large crowd of over 25,000 people is expected, organizers said, and in the past the figure has reached nearly 20,000.
The O'Jays, natives of Canton, Ohio whose popularity peaked in the 1970s, are famous for such hits as ''The Back Stabbers,' 'Love Train,' and "For the Love of Money."
After 7 , which was founded by singer, songwriter and producer Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds and includes his brothers Melvin and Kevon Edmonds, hit the music scene in 1987 and has a string of hits, including 'Ready Or Not,' 'Til You Do Me Right,' and "Can't Stop."
Reed has represented the southeast side of Cleveland, which includes parts of the Kinsman and Mount Pleasant neighborhoods, since 2000. (www.clevelandurbannews.com) / (www.kathywraycolemanonlinenewsblog.com)
