Emilia Sykes (OH-13) issued a statement on Wednesday after a Hamilton County common pleas judge issued a preliminary injunction that will temporarily block enforcement of Ohio laws banning use of telemedicine in medication abortions, and prohibiting certified nurse midwives, physician assistants and other non-physician medical professionals from prescribing medication abortion pills. Sykes is an Akron Democrat and one of three Black womenwho are in Congress from Ohio. She is also a former minority leader of the Ohio House of Representatives.  Last November, and following the U.S. Supreme Court's 2022 Roe v. Elected officials, marching bands, Black fraternities and sororities, union groups, community activists and wannabe candidates were among those there as the Nov. 5 presidential election between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump nears. Brown is one of three Black women in Congress from Ohio and is a member of Ohio's five-member Democratic Congressional Delegation. It is majority Black and majority female and also includes Reps. Harris will face Republican presidential nominee and former president Donald Trump for the Nov. 5 presidential election. When he finally took to the stage for a prolonged speech Biden said that Harris "will serve as the 47th president of the United States."
