East Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Will Dawson, for whom an award is named. The award will be handed out by the East Cleveland activist group the Oppressed People's Nation in his name, today, Sept 29, 2013, at the group's Second Annual Community Dinner. The honor will go to longtime Cleveland Community Activists Don and Norma Freeman. Others, including Community Activist Al Porter of Black on Black Crime Inc., will receive recognition too.   Members of the grassroots group The Oppressed People's Nation. CLEVELAND, Ohio-Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Mayoral Candidate Ken Lanci, and Cleveland City Council candidates, will attend a forum today, Sept. 26 beginning at 6 pm at the Club at Key Center, 127 Public Square in Cleveland. Jackson and Lanci will square off there for a community discussion at 7:30 pm, organizers said. The event is sponsored by the Young Professionals. Lanci told Cleveland Urban News.Com that he is elated to have a community discussion with Jackson and that the more forums the pair can participate in before the November  general election, the better. Their first official debate was on Sept. 18 at the City Club in Cleveland. "Anytime we can debate on community issues, I look forward to it," said Lanci. "The community needs a series of debates and discussions before the November 5 election."

This was to allegedly avoid potential harassment,  according to Jackson spokesperson Maureen Harper. He will be out in time for the November 5 general election for Cleveland mayor and city council.
