Cuyahoga County Council President C. Ellen Conally (D-9), its first county council  president and the first Black, who won reelection to the county council presidency without opposition last week. Connally is supported by Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (D-OH), and Cleveland's Old Black Political Guard, which, in 1967, helped Carl B. Cuyahoga County Sheriff Bob Reid, whom Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald fired on Thursday via his forced resignation. Reid's firing follows complaints of mortgage and foreclosure fraud allegedly involving Reid himself, a wealth of mortgage companies and banks such as J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, Bricker and Eckler law firm, and several of the majority White 34 judges of the general division of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, which is led by Presiding and Administrative Judge Nancy Fuerst. A number of county foreclosure magistrates, including Chief Foreclosure Magistrate Stephen Bucha, are also involved with the alleged impopriety, data show.
