Community activists to rally to say 'Black Lives Matter' at Free Stamp at Cleveland City Hall at 11:15 am, February 7, 2015 followed by the noon 'Black Flag Raising Ceremony' and a Black History Month program, both also at City Hall, Activist Khalid Samad to be honored for 40 years of community service by Cleveland City Council on February 9

Rashid lead a march in February of 2014 outside of Cleveland City Hall to raise the 'African-American Flag' as an annual salute to Black History Month. Community activists will host the annual event this year on February 7, 2015  beginning with a 'Black Lives Matter' rally at the Free Stamp outside of Cleveland City Hall at 11:15 am. The raising of the 'African-American Flag' will be led by Samad and local dentist Dr. Eugene Jordan of the Underground Railroad Society and will occur at noon on the steps of City Hall followed by a Black History Month program inside at the City Hall Rotunda Building

CLEVELAND, Ohio-The Underground Railroad SocietyPeace in the Hood Inc., the Cleveland Chapter of the New Black Panther Party and Black on Black Crime Inc., with support from a network of community organizations, including the Imperial Women Coalition, the Carl Stokes Brigade and the Cleveland African-American Museum, will hold  the annual 'African-American Flag Raising Ceremony' at Cleveland City Hall following a rally at the Free Stamp under the theme  of "Black Lives Matter." 

The open-to-the-public event will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 and  is part of a salute to Black History Month. It will begin with a short 'Black Lives Matter' rally at 11:15 am at the Free Stamp next to City Hall and on the steps of City Hall to commentate Black History Month and to remind the community that Blacks lives do matter and that too many of them are being lost too soon in greater Cleveland and elsewhere across the country. The 'African-American Flag' will be raised on the steps of City Hall at noon followed by a Black History Month Program inside of City Hall at the Rotunda. 

The City of Cleveland was also a sponsor of the gathering.

Activist Khalid Samad, an organizer of the aforementioned event, and the CEO of Peace in the Hood, will be recognized on Monday, February 9 for 40 years of community service by Cleveland Ward 2 Councilman Zack Reed and city council.
