CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, the Democratic candidate for Ohio governor, will address County Council Committee of the Whole meeting today at 2 pm at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center in Cleveland on the importance of passing the Cuyahoga County Voting Rights Law, legislation he has introduced so that Cuyahoga County is able to exercise its home rule authority to mail absentee ballot applications to registered voters.
FitzGerald introduced the Cuyahoga County Voting Rights Law last Tuesday after the Ohio General Assembly and Republican Gov John Kasich enacted three bills to curtail absentee, early, and provisional voting. Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has also issued a directive limiting early voting in the 2014 general election.
