CLEVELAND, Ohio-Democratic Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, a former FBI agent, will make stops in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati on Wednesday April 24 to announce that he will run for governor of Ohio in 2014 against incumbent governor John Kasich, if he wins the Democratic primary. And that might be a likely posture since his candidacy is supported by Chris Redfern, head of the Ohio Democratic Party, and perspective contenders such as former Ohio Congresswoman Betty Sutton, and former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray, now the U.S. Consumer Bureau chief, have bowed out.

Kasich is the front runner polls show and is ahead of FitzGerald by 10 points. But political polls can and often do change during the course of an election and Ohioans can likely expect an all out war between the Republicans and Democrats for next year's gubernatorial election.

 From serving as an FBI agent on the Organized Crime Task Force, assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor, Lakewood mayor, and now county executive, FitzGerald,43, said in a press release today to Cleveland Urban News.Com that he has "brought down corrupt public officials, cleaned up government and fought to make government work for the middle class."

 His first stop tomorrow to make his big announcement will be at 1:30 pm in Cleveland at the Hilton Garden Inn on Carnegie Ave. He will make stops in Columbus and Cincinnati later in the day, the press release said.

 Cuyahoga County is a Democratic stronghold and the largest of Ohio's 88 counties.

Kasich ousted then Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland in 2010 relative to a Republican sweep of statewide offices and the Democrats hope to gain some footage in 2014 with state Sen Nina Turner (D-25) (pictured above), a Cleveland Democrat, likely running on the ticket with FitzGerald and others for Ohio Secretary of State, an elected position now held by Republican Jon Husted.

Ousted University Heights Mayor Susan Infeld, whom voters booted out of office Tuesday evening following claims of racism against Black residents, and alleged theft in office, and because she is running a theft ring in the city of illegal foreclosures on the homes of Cuyahoga County residents along with a corrupt and racist police department that she leads as safety director.
